Safeguarding at Belfast Ukulele Festival

Belfast Ukulele Festival is committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone attending the festival.

We believe all people should be able to enjoy music, arts and community activities free from abuse, intimidation, discrimination, harm or exploitation. We take safeguarding and wellbeing seriously and expect everyone involved in the festival — including volunteers, performers, workshop leaders, partners and attendees — to help us create a respectful and safe atmosphere.

While Belfast Ukulele Festival is primarily aimed at adults, some events may be suitable for children, young people and families.
Children attending the festival must remain supervised by a parent, guardian or responsible adult at all times.

Our safeguarding approach includes:

  • Clear safeguarding procedures for volunteers and festival representatives

  • Designated safeguarding contacts during the festival

  • Expectations around respectful and appropriate behaviour

  • Reporting procedures for concerns or incidents

  • Working with venues and partners to support attendee safety

  • Appropriate safeguarding guidance and training for volunteers where required

‍ ‍

We encourage anyone with a safeguarding concern during the festival to speak to a member of the Belfast Ukulele Festival team.

Where necessary, Belfast Ukulele Festival may work with venue staff, emergency services or relevant authorities to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of attendees.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we are committed to maintaining a festival environment that is friendly, inclusive and respectful for all.
